Another Day, Another Western

It's the last day of 2011.  It finds Mom up and about.  She's eaten a couple of meals whether she's wanted to or not.  She's dropped about 15 pounds since getting sick and is at the weight she's wanted to be her whole life!  We're trying to get her to eat every couple of hours.  As her daughter I'm remembering the long hours at the table being told I couldn't get up until I'd eaten everything on my plate.  Pay back time!!!!
She's planning on making a trip to the store to get a new jacket today.  She went out and bought new pants yesterday.  She's styling!
It's been awfully quiet at the house since the brothers and sister left.  Rick and Lori had us all over for dinner last night and Mom ate really well and visited for the hour.  She was as cantankerous as ever!  But, she ate well.  We're keeping her in the dark green vegetables and protein for strength that she is going to need.
For everyone's information, Rick's sister-in-law is a nurse that does cancer patient care.  Brenda (that's her name) is on top of Mom's care and helps her to know the questions to ask as she goes along.  Brenda has been a great support to us all in the information and care she has given.  We've been greatly blessed.
Mom asked what we were doing for New Year's Eve, then she got up and did a jig that made her dog bark.    She got a call from the doctor's office and Tuesday she will be contacted about the start of chemo.  She's in the once a month study.  So, she'll get a shot of chemo every 21 days.  Lora is going to try to come down for those few days of hardship that she'll have to endure.
We all know this will get hard, but we are keeping up the faith and hope.  We accept any and all prayers like Macy's accepts credit cards!
'Til next time.....
Deb
